I had the chance to speak with Dan Baresic who is the Director of Operations over at Outcross, and wanted to ask him some questions so we could get some insight to everyone about their clothing line. Let's get to it...

Hey Dan, let me get this correct you guys are a Boutique Brand? Can you give us a more detailed explanation of what exactly a Boutique Brand is?

We consider ourselves an upscale MMA boutique brand because of our t-shirt making process, our limited quantity design runs, and our shop exclusivity. We're proud that every step of our process is done in North America; from fabric and cut done in California, design work in New York, and the print and wash done in Ontario - our t-shirts are ethically and uniquely made. Our online shop is the primary place to get your hands on one of our t-shirts but we also have the intention of offering our brand at MMA gyms starting at our first affiliation with Xtreme Couture Toronto. MMA gyms are where the culture originates so that's where we want to be.

What made you guys want to start a clothing line within the MMA space?

Firstly because we're big fans of MMA ourselves and there's a huge MMA cultural movement where we're from in Ontario, Canada. The culture is ever-changing and growing exponentially and we wanted to a way to contribute in some way. We looked at how we could do this and found there was a niche in making upscale boutique brand tees.

Living in Ontario, I noticed some shirts were made to help the sanctioning of MMA in Ontario, this is great and I can also see you lowered the price on these items for that obvious reason. Seems like a bold move to make when starting a clothing line to exclude certain people from possibly buying them. Can you tell us more about this?

When we launched the brand, holding MMA events in Ontario was still unsanctioned. This was ludicrous in our opinion and we wanted to do our small part in bringing awareness to the issue. During a live Q&A in Toronto, Dana White (UFC President) was kind enough to wear our "War Cry" t-shirt to show his solidarity with the cause. Being based out of Ontario, Canada we decided to make an exclusive t-shirt like that one because the cause was close to our heart. I think if you don't stand out from the crowd and take some chances then you're just another brand trying to make a buck. For the most part the Outcross Clothing brand resonates with MMA fans from anywhere.

What would you say makes your clothing unique from other brands? And what can we look forward to seeing from your clothing line in the future?

Aside from our t-shirt making process which we already discussed, I think we're unique in our approach to design decisions. We are constantly talking with people in the industry to gauge the vibe of the MMA culture. Part of what we incorporate in our business from the MMA culture is the pursuit of perfection. Like the world-class athletes in the sport of MMA, we work towards making the best product we can. MMA tees are our core business, that's what we do and what we do well. You can expect new and great t-shirts from our line in the future. I'll also say that we haven't been ignoring all of the inquiries from our female supporters...
